And it’s real (Its heroes are still alive). It describes the life of children on the street during this period and the reasons being their homelessness and the attempt to offer an educational plan to treat them. The book proposes solutions that are still considered today an example for work to social guiders and special educators working in this area.

Introduction by Bishop Gregory Haddad

To the unknown and crazy soldier,

I read your book and it was still in progress, so you made me come back in time 40 years, and live with you and your children that adventure of which you were the hero and the unknown solider
And the first thing I remember was your dropping of teaching in a big school, with a guaranteed salary, and a certain future, and peace of mind, to accept my proposition to take a big responsibility with lower salary, non guaranteed the responsibility of raising up the children of the street, as their name was back then.
Your acceptance for this responsibility, and with this low salary was something extraordinary, with the craziness of youth, the faith and love, and the craziness of a message that lasted 15 years
And how much this responsibility was tough
Its scheduled was 24 hours a day
You had assistants but you were always the responsible one, they call you at any time of the day or night. Especially when one of the children or adolescents run to go back on the streets. You would leave immediately the place where you were resting to go down to the down town Beirut, where the runaways were hiding. And you wouldn’t come back without the lost sheep with you, and without using any violence.
Your love and jealousy in the services of those kids and adolescents made them love you and trust you and consider you as a replacement of the father they lost, or who left them, and did not ask about their fate.
1thousand and five hundred children or adolescents, with whom you made a special relationship, during the 15 years years. You taught them to read and write and calculate and manners and honorable life, and you made them work and make a living, get married and spend on their small families
In the realm of the social movement, for which you adopted the concepts and values and targets, you always used to tell me: Total freedom is impossible, it doesn’t last. Every human needs a motive to keep going in his volunteerism, a monetary or moral motive. your motive was human and spirited.
And there’s no doubt that when you remembered everything you have done, and your pain and your disappointment sometimes of those who used to back you up, and you wrote what you wrote, that you found great consolation for the educational results that you got through your great labor
Hence I’m happy with you because you succeeded in the humanitarian test, in the faith and the commitment, the love , and the rare sacrifice. It’s medal on your chest, that’s why you don’t need a classical medal.
Because you were the social educational unknown and crazy solider
